Glenmore Beach is situated in Munster, which is a quaint little village along the KwaZulu-Natal coast. This village is about 155 kilometres from Durban and the King Shaka International Airport.
On the lower part of the Hibiscus Coast in KwaZulu-Natal, visitors will find the scenic Glenmore Beach. It is situated between the Mkhandandlovu River to the north and the Itongasi River to the south, and between Port Edward and Palm Beach.
It is ideal for swimming, paddling, surfing, and launching boats. It is particularly popular for swimming and surfing as it is protected by shark nets, and the Indian Ocean waters are warm and inviting. It is also great for snorkelling, thanks to the reef that is home to loads of exciting plant and animal species, as well as kayaking. Keen fishermen often choose Glenmore Beach, and enjoy catching rock cod and shad, amongst other species. Lifeguards are on duty during the holiday months and on weekends.
The long sandy stretch of the beach is great for romantic walks, brisk jogs, languorous sun-tanning, or playing energetic beach games (such as Frisbee or volleyball). Natural vegetation surrounds the beach and the beauty of the area makes any time spent here memorable.
Dolphins play in these waters from April to October, while southern right and humpback whales come past South African shores during the latter half of every year. These cetaceans can be seen from the sands of Glenmore Beach, and make for really stunning sights and photographs.
